چکیده

The relationships between the color intensities of polyimide films and the electronic properties of their source materials-aromatic diamines and aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides-are discussed. The arrangement of the diamine moieties in order of color intensity of polyimides shows fairly good agreement with the order of the electron-donating properties of the diamines estimated from 15N NMR chemical shifts (bN). On the other hand, the arrangement of the dianhydrides moieties in order of color intensity of polyimides agrees with the order of the electron-accepting properties of the dianhydrides estimated from experimental and calculated electron affinity (EA) although systematic inconsistencies are observed for the dianhydrides having-CF3 groups and a benzophenone carbonyl group. These results are consistent with the formation of charge transfer complex (CTC) and indicate that the electron-donating properties of diamines and electron-accepting properties of dianhydrides are retained to a significant extent even in polyimide molecular chains.

New Thermally Stable Aromatic Polyimides Based on Aromatic Diamine ‎2,5-Bis(3-amino-4-methyl benzene)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (BAMO):‎ Synthesis and Characterization

In current study, the synthesis and characterization of novel thermally stable polyimides (PIs) containing an 1,3,4-oxadiazole moiety based on a diamine, i.e. 2,5-bis(3-amino-4-methyl benzene)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (BAMO), have been reported. The polymers were characterized using FT-IR and elemental analysis (CHN). Thermal and mechanical behaviours of the prepared PIs were studied by thermo-gravimet...

Understanding the Effect of the Dianhydride Structure on the Properties of Semiaromatic Polyimides Containing a Biobased Fatty Diamine

In this work we report the effect of the hard block dianhydride structure on the overall properties of partially biobased semiaromatic polyimides. For the study, four polyimides were synthesized using aliphatic fatty dimer diamine (DD1) as the soft block and four different commercially available aromatic dianhydrides as the hard block: 4,4'-(4,4'-isopropylidenediphenoxy) bis(phthalic anhydride)...

Synthesis and characterization of novel polyimides derived from 4,4’-bis(5-amino-2-pyridinoxy)benzophenone: effect of pyridine and ketone units in the main

A diamine monomer, 4,4'-bis(5-amino-2-pyridinoxy)benzophenone, was designed and synthesized, and used to react with commercially different kinds of aromatic dianhydrides to prepare a series of polyimides containing pyridine and ketone units via the classical two-step procedure. Glass transition temperatures (Tg) of the resultant polyimides PI-(1-5) derived from 4,4'-bis(5-amino-2-pyridinoxy) be...

Gas Permeation Properties of Soluble Aromatic Polyimides Based on 4-Fluoro-4,4'-Diaminotriphenylmethane

A series of new organic polyimides were synthesized from 4-fluoro-4'4"-diaminotriphenylmethane and four different aromatic dianhydrides through a one-step, high-temperature, direct polycondensation in m-cresol at 180-200 °C, resulting in the formation of high-molecular-weight polyimides (inherent viscosities ~ 1.0-1.3 dL/g). All the resulting polyimides exhibited good thermal stability with ini...

Fundamental Insight on Developing Low Dielectric Constant Polyimides

Thermally stable, durable, insulative polyimides are in great demand for the fabrication of microelectronic devices. In this investigation dielectric and optical properties have been studied for several series of aromatic polyimides. The effect of polarizability, fluorine content, and free volume on dielectric constant was examined. In general, minimizing polarizability, maximizing free volume ...
